Greener Gardens for a Greener Future
We have an eye on the future, and are dedicated to creating outdoor spaces in ways that face up to the challenges of a changing climate. From our office to our working practices, we put environmental concerns at the heart of everything we do. We can provide you with a multitude of practical solutions to create an environmentally friendly and ecological garden.
By selecting and planting specific plants in your garden, we will nurture garden bugs and birds, providing habitats and food for a variety of creatures. This creates a healthy eco-system which helps your garden to thrive.
Kind To The Planet, Kind To Your Pocket
Wherever possible, we use West Country suppliers for hard landscaping materials, cutting down carbon miles and delivery costs, and helping to grow the local economy. We love to use stone quarried in Cornwall, collaborating with stonemasons like Tim Marsh near Falmouth. Likewise we like to use managed woodland timber supplied by Eddie Butterfield in Dorset; he cuts his wood on a nineteenth century renovated steam engine powered by wood offcuts. We also work with local metal fabricators such as Jay Gates and as many Cornish nurseries as possible.
Supporting Cornwall Wildlife Trust
In October 2016, gARTen became a part of Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Supporting the important work that this organisation does, gARTen Design does regular fundraising events to raise money for the trust on various occasions. Come along and wander through our wild space!
Vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers are our passion!
For some of our customers growing edibles is a key part of their new garden. From a small single raised herb table to a new Victorian Greenhouse, or a larger plot of multiple raised beds, our experts can guide you step by step on how to plant edibles. We encourage our customers to grow what they love to eat, even if this is simply a couple of herbs for cooking. There is no doubt that a fusion of flowers and vegetables within a vegetable garden leads to success for the harvest, bringing in bees and bugs and creating a fabulous eco-system for feeding everyone!
Nurturing our heritage
At gARTen we have been growing Heritage varieties for many years, from our favourite seed merchant Thamas Etty esq. We grow wonderfully fragrant Sweet Peas to purple podded garden peas, multi-coloured carrots and fabulously tasting tomatoes; harvesting varieties of all shapes and sizes.
